The Snapdragon 810 is caught between hot debates

The Snapdragon 810 just can’t catch a break and it’s increasingly obvious that we’re witnessing a chain of events comparable to a Spanish soap opera.

So let’s sum things up for you right until now. A month ago, rumors started going out that Qualcomm was facing some difficulties with its newest, high-end chip, the Snapdragon 810, which was reportedly over-heating.

Fears were raised that the Snapdragon 810’s failure to be delivered on time would end up impacting the launch of this spring’s flagship devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4, HTC One (M9) and Sony Xperia S4.

Interestingly enough, LG and Xiaomi are two device makers that already announced handsets making use of the chip architecture.

LG said that it was not worried about the Snapdragon 810

A few days ago LG stepped forward to defend its choice in silicone. A company official said the Snapdragon 810 was the less overheating chip it had ever seen and promised to deliver the handset on time.

Could it be that LG managed to find some sort of workaround so that the LG G Flex 2 won’t end up burning up? Or is that its ergonomic form facilitates overall coolness?

Anyway, Samsung apparently takes the overheating concerns related to the Snapdragon 810 very seriously, so the Korean tech giant will apparently use the Exynos 7420 for its upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S6.

But that would amount to a steep loss for Qualcomm which doesn't want to see Samsung go, as a customer. So with this in mind, the chip giant is apparently willing to redesign the platform especially for the Korean tech giant.

But this willingness might have unwanted repercussions on Qualcomm. As reported by G for Games, Qualcomm exclusively modifying the Snapdragon 810 for Samsung is all but confirming that the chip does have issues.

Is Qualcomm favoring Samsung?

Another question that comes to mind is why Qualcomm didn't offer to do the same for LG. Which, in turn, fuels speculation that LG might want to sue the chip maker for making Samsung its sweetheart.

But in all possibility, it might be the case that the LG G Flex 2 simply doesn't tend to get overheated.

Anyway, earlier today we told you that the upcoming OnePlus 2, which is also based on Snapdragon 810 is also delayed for Q3 2015, with the blame being thrown on the faulty architecture once again.

The truth is out there and hopefully we’ll stumble upon it one of these days.
