Video game developer Traveller's Tales and publisher Warner Bros. are ready to deliver another trailer for the new LEGO Dimensions, which is designed to appeal to the nostalgia of potential players by bringing back Doc Brown from "Back to the Future," as portrayed by Christopher Lloyd.

The footage shows the actor, looking clearly older than in the movies, as he plays with a figure that represents his alter-ego and there's also a look at the actual gameplay that the video game will deliver.

LEGO Dimensions is set to be introduced in September of this year on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft, the Nintendo made Wii U, and older-generation consoles.

The game will allow players to get access to a classic lineup of figurines, based on a wide array of intellectual properties, and then use them inside a fantasy world to get through missions and gain access to rewards.

The starter set for LEGO Dimensions will include versions of Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle, designed to show off the kinds of experiences the title can offer.

But the development team will deliver a range of other characters soon after launch, including Joker and Harley Quinn in a DC Comics team pack, a fun pack with Superman, Aquaman and Bane, a Back to the Future package featuring Doc Brown and a LEGO Ninjago fun pack.

There are also plans to create adventures based around "Jurassic World," "The Simpsons," "Doctor Who" and "Portal."

LEGO Dimensions will compete with Disney Infinity and Skylanders

The figure video game space is getting very crowded as more companies are trying to make sure that they get a slice of the growing market.

The new experience from Warner Bros. and Traveller's Tales will focus on the wide range of characters it can deliver to compete with the two biggest presences in the field, Skylanders from Activision and Disney Infinity.

Both of them will receive new versions in the fall, with the Disney title focusing heavily on Star Wars content.

Nintendo is also saying that it will be launching more Amiiibo figurines, which appeal to the same type of customer, and claims that it will manufacture enough of them to make sure that no more shortages happen.
