This could be the unannounced Lumia 840 XL

Microsoft is expected to launch its first flagship smartphones powered by Windows 10 Mobile later this year. However, the company has a few more mid-range devices in the pipeline, which might be announced earlier.

If Microsoft decides to go live with these mid-range smartphones ahead of Windows 10 Mobile launch, it means they will probably be running Windows Phone 8.1 instead.

After drowning us in affordable Windows Phones, it will be nice to see a mid-range device for a change. Previously leaked as Lumia 740 XL and Lumia 840 XL, these unannounced smartphones will pack large displays that put them in the phablet range.

One of them has just been spotted in India in Zauba's documents. Unfortunately, since the phone mentioned in these documents hasn't been named, we can't tell for certain which of the two is being tested in India.

Either way, we do know for sure that the Lumia smartphone listed at Zauba will be available in two versions: single-SIM and dual-SIM. This is another indication that the smartphone will eventually be introduced in India where dual-SIM devices are a must.

Mid-range or high-end phablet?

We also know that the unannounced Lumia smartphone will come with a 5.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display. The phablet is priced at Rs 38,346 ($600 / €550), though this isn't an accurate number, as the phone may be priced lower and higher than that.

A certain Lumia phablet with 5.7-inch screen appeared last month in Adduplex database with the codename RM-1085. The new device spotted in Zauba might be the same phablet that popped up in April, but we can't say for sure.

Still, if we are to judge the Lumia phablet listed in Zauba by the price that's been tagged with, this might be a high-end smartphone after all. We hope to get more info on this one in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
