The update has been recently spotted in Navifirm

Microsoft launched the Lumia 535 late last year, and the affordable smartphone is now available for purchase worldwide. As many of you probably know by now, the Lumia 535 ships with Windows Phone 8.1 on board, but it's Windows 10 ready.

This means that once Microsoft releases Windows 10 for Phones later this summer, the Lumia 535 will be getting the upgrade soon afterwards.

Until then though, it looks like Microsoft has decided to release a new firmware update for Lumia 535, which is probably supposed to fix some minor issue and add small improvements.

The new firmware update has been recently spotted on Navifirm by Spanish blog WindowsPhoneApps.es. Keep in mind though that this is not the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 (or GDR2) that many Lumia owners are still expecting on their smartphones.

Sadly, the update does not come with a changelog

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 comes with Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL, but word is that this software update will never make it to other Lumia smartphones because it would take too long for Microsoft to deliver it and it will mix with the Windows 10's release.

Anyway, it appears that the recent update for Lumia 535 changes the firmware to version 15114, WindowsCentral reports. However, the software version remains the same, so no doubt that this is now the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2.

That being said, the firmware update does not seem to come with an official changelog, so we can't confirm any new features or improvements that might have been added.

However, if you own the Microsoft Lumia 535 and have already received the firmware update, let us know in the comments if you noticed any new features or improvements that have been added. Stay tuned for more info on future updates for Lumia smartphones.
