Microsoft is working at full speed on Windows 10 Mobile, but in the meantime, Windows Phone is still doing very well and stats show that there's growing interest in new devices powered by the current version of Redmond's mobile OS.

Lumia 520, which has been until recently the most affordable Lumia model on the market, continues to be the top Windows Phone device worldwide, according to AdDuplex data, with a share of 21.6 percent.

But Lumia 520, however, is a rather old device, so interest in newer models is growing, these figures show. The overall share of Lumia 520 dropped 1.5 percent, while Lumia 535, for example, which is now the third top Windows Phone device worldwide with a share of 6.7 percent, scored an increase of 1.5 percent in the last 30 days.

In the United States, the number one Windows Phone model is Lumia 635 with 29.8 percent, followed by Lumia 521 with 11.8 percent and Lumia 630 with 7.6 percent.

Flagships nowhere to be seen

Just as in the previous months, flagships are nowhere to be seen in these charts, with Lumia 720 being the last model with 2.9 percent.

Most likely, both Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520 fall in the “Other” category, which groups all the other Lumia models on the market with a share of 30.1 percent.

New Windows 10 Mobile flagships are expected later this year, and reports claimed that Lumia 930 could get a successor called Lumia 940 that would come with innovative features, such as an iris scanner.

This would be part of the new Windows 10 feature lineup that would include new security features implemented, such as Windows Hello, which would add a new security layer to all devices by allowing biometric authentication using cameras and third-party hardware.

Windows 10 Mobile is projected to see daylight in late 2015, possibly in October, so that would be the moment when flagships could also be released.
