The Kodi media center finally has a new official Android remote name Kore that has been developed by a member of the community.

If you are using Kodi (formerly XBMC), you know that it's important to have a working remote, but that particular functionality was lacking. The old XBMC had a remote that was sufficient, but it wasn't brought up to date, and it was no longer working. That has changed now with the new Kore remote, which has been developed by a member of the community.

A remote control might seem like a trivial thing to have or to want, but there are many users out there that have Kodi on PCs acting as a media center. On the one hand, using a generic remote control built in China that only provides the minimal functions is not the proper way of doing things. On the other hand, an Android remote can do so much more, especially if the device has the proper support for it.

Kore is the name of the new Android remote

A remote for Kodi was one of the more important requests, and now it has been granted, even if it came from the community. The Kodi developers saw the potential in the Kore Android remote, and they made it a part of their project.

"Some months ago a developer Synced Synapse started working on a new Android remote that was more of these days. We all liked the simplicity, the design, and the fact that is was entirely open source. As such we asked him if he was willing to make the remote he made the official Kodi remote and were part of our team. And here we are, an all brand new and working Android remote that will help you control all your Kodi installs throughout your home. More features will be added in the future," reads the entry on the official Kodi blog.

Kore comes with support for Kodi 14.x "Helix," 15.x "Isengard," XBMC 12.x "Frodo," and XBMC 13.x "Gotham," Some of the features include the ability of change or sync subtitles, switch between audio streams, Wake-on-LAN, send YouTube videos, and much more.
