Developer Tripwire Interactive has revealed a new batch of screenshots from the upcoming zombie shooter Killing Floor 2, showing us some of the extra-grisly monsters we're going to be fighting against.

The game, just like its prequel, is all about shooting stuff in the face in the goriest way imaginable. It doesn't try to hide under a false pretense, it's brutal and straightforward. There is a wide variety of monsters to kill in terrible, terrible ways, resulting in a lot of blood and gore. If that happens to be right up your alley, you're in luck.

The developers wanted to take things to the next level after the unexpected success of the 2009 original, and now they put together one of the most complex dismemberment systems to date, featuring no less than 22 junction points.

This means that you'll be able to inflict unforgiving violence in very interesting ways, and the screenshots in the gallery below serve as a sort of guide to what you'll be able to do and to whom.

It's always best with friends

The game will be best enjoyed in cooperative multiplayer, just like its forebear, and you can get an additional glimpse of all the craziness in the PS4 announcement video below.

Also, mods. The first Killing Floor had a ton of exciting stuff created by the community, and the second will most likely get a similar treatment. It should be exciting.

In case you own the first game and you haven't tried playing it with mods yet, it's a great way to enjoy a different experience, if you get tired of playing the same old game all over again.

You can find a list of Killing Floor mods on its ModDB page.

Killing Floor 2 is currently on its way to Windows PC, SteamOS, and the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, with a release window of sometime during 2015.
