It wouldn't be the first time that Keanu Reeves would play a superhero but fans went absolutely gaga at the thought that he could play the famous Marvel character Doctor Strange. The role for the movie adaptation still seems to be up for grabs after Jouaquin Phoenix bowed out of the project and Reeves' name has been popping up on the list of replacements.

There were rumors that the actor was now in negotiations with Marvel to play the Sorcerer Supreme, but it's the first time that Reeves has spoken up on the issue.

Collider quotes him as saying that “From a practical standpoint the idea of a longtime contract is sort of ‘errr’ because you want to make sure the material is up to a certain level,” after which he added, “Like the good or great level. I like the idea. I go to those kinds of movies.”

He went on to confess that he wasn't necessarily familiar with the universe of Dr. Strange, despite growing up on a healthy diet of comic books and graphic novels. But he also points out that he's willing to give the comic books a read in order to get up to speed and that he did remember seeing a report about who was ultimately going to play the role.

The movie “Dr. Strange” has been in the works for quite some time, has had its ups and downs and still hasn't revealed the name of the main actor. All that we know at this point is that the movie is directed by Kevin Feige, that it's coming out on July 8, 2016, that it's not going to be an origin story, and most importantly, that it's going to be the “doorway” to the supernatural side of the Marvel universe.
