Kazam is a UK-based OEM that specializes in low- and mid-range Android smartphones, which it launches in Europe. However, it looks like Kazam wants a piece of the Windows Phone market as well, as the company announced the upcoming availability of two new smartphones powered by Microsoft’s OS.

Although Windows Phone has yet to surpass the 5% market share worldwide, the operating system is a bit more popular in some European countries, which is probably one of the reasons Kazam has decided to launch two new Windows Phone handsets.

“As a dedicated European mobile brand, Kazam has responded to the demand for choice at every level. Today’s announcement further demonstrates our commitment to the market, innovating in areas often overlooked,” said Michael Coombes, Kazam CEO.

WMPowerUser reports Kazam will be launching the Thunder 450W and Thunder 450WL in some European countries. These two Windows Phones may be released in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Poland and Benelux countries, but they might be launched in other regions as well.

The smartphones are similar spec-wise, except for the battery

Kazam Thunder 450W will be powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and will sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

The smartphone is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, microSD card (up to 32GB), 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as 2,220 mAh battery.

The second Windows Phone handset launched by Kazam, the Thunder 450WL, has the same features as Thunder 450W but is powered by a slightly larger 2,500 mAh battery.

Unfortunately, there's no word on price tag or exact release date, but Kazam stated that both Windows Phone 8.1 handsets would be available later this year.

“These new Windows tablets and phones will diversify Kazam’s Windows offerings across Europe and provide customers with a consistent yet personalised experience across devices,” concluded Peter Han, VP of worldwide marketing at Microsoft’s OEM division.
