It looks like Kate Middleton won't be visiting Malta this weekend as Kensington Palace has just announced that the Duchess of Cambridge is going to cancel her visit at the recommendation of her doctors. Instead of canceling the trip altogether, Prince William will go to Malta in her place.

It was supposed to be her first solo trip abroad, but it seems that at the moment, the royals are more concerned with the health of the royal baby than with consolidating international relations. The Duchess won't be flying to Malta after all, despite having planned a visit for the celebration of 50 years of Maltese independence.

Kensington Palace confirms the Duchess is staying at home for the time being

The report from Kensington Palace quoted by Entertainmentwise claims that the reason for the cancellation is Kate's ongoing bout with extreme morning sickness, something from which she also suffered during her first pregnancy as well.

The announcement said that “The Duchess of Cambridge will no longer visit Malta this weekend. The Duke of Cambridge will undertake the visit instead. HRH continues to suffer from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. The decision was taken on the advice of doctors. The Duke of Cambridge is honoured to represent The Queen on the visit, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of Malta's Independence.”

This new cancellation worries people, is taken as a sign that the pregnancy has complications

People are beginning to worry about Kate's second pregnancy, since the Duchess has recently canceled all engagements for events, including her appearance at the Invictus Games, a project started by Prince Harry. Since Kate is known to have already suffered a miscarriage, the fear is that she will also lose this pregnancy as well.

Last week, the royal couple was spotted going out for dinner at a quiet pub, where they were accompanied by four members of the Protection Service. Patrons of the pub were said to have come over their table and greeted them cordially.

The Duchess was photographed exiting the pub and the photo in question showed little or no evidence of a baby bump, indicating that the pregnancy is still in its early stages. Then again, the Duchess didn't really show a significant bump with her first pregnancy either, until the later stages of her pregnancy.

Doctors aren't taking any chances for the moment, despite the fact that the Duchess has battled with severe morning sickness in her first pregnancy and managed to give birth to a perfectly healthy boy. This would indicate that with this second pregnancy there have been some complications, but since the Palace isn't saying anything, we're left to poke around in the dark.
