14 DAY TRIAL // Kate Hudson swore off marriage after hers to Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson ended in divorce in 2006 after 6 years, but she still accepted Matt Bellamy’s proposal in April 2011. They never went public with a wedding date and chances are they never set one – and now they never will.
In a statement to People magazine, a rep for the actress confirms that she and the rocker are no longer a couple and that the engagement was called off some time ago.
She’s not pining over Matt though: the split is amicable, but she’s already moved on, finding comfort in the arms of DWTS pro Derek Hough. Juicy!
Kate and Matt are still the best of friends
According to the publicist, “Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now. Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents.” They have a son together, Bingham Hawn Bellamy, nicknamed Bing, who was born in July 2011.
Kate has another child from her marriage to Robinson, Ryder, who is 10. Matt and Ryder have grown very close during Matt’s relationship with Kate, and it is believed they remain so even after the split.
Celebrities usually use this “we’re still friends” line in their statements, but in the case of these 2, it could very well be the truth and nothing but the truth: as of late November, they were still doing red carpets together, posing hand in hand and apparently very happy.
Moreover, they were also photographed by the paparazzi out and about around the same date, laughing and obviously having fun hanging out. So either the rep is lying about them being separated “for some time now,” or that’s the truth and Kate and Matt are still on excellent terms.
Kate has already moved on
Kate Hudson is considered one of the most beautiful women in showbiz, which means she’s not lacking suitors if she really wants to move on with her life after this failed relationship.
In fact, insiders reveal for Us Weekly, she’s already moved on, with good friend / pro dancer on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars Derek Hough. The two were caught on a date last weekend at the Nice Guy Restaurant in LA, where they “ate dinner, drank, and stayed past closing,” having a lot of fun and acting couple-y.
Kate and Derek have been good friends for years and have even been photographed together dancing at A-list parties, to the delight of the rest of the guests: after all, Derek has some fierce moves, we all know that. Proof is in the video below.
According to Us, they became even closer as her relationship with Matt deteriorated and they ended up dating. The report doesn’t say whether there was some kind of overlapping between these two relationships, but rumor online suggests that there was.
