Because he’s about to get a career thanks to Yeezy

Kanye West has been working very hard throughout 2014, on a new album that is expected to drop some time in 2015. The other day, the rapper, whose previous record was called “Yezus,” a pun on his stage name Yeezy and Jesus, released his first single off the album, called “Only One.”

The song is a collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, worry not, you are not alone: many of Kanye’s fans have no idea who he is, but they’re positive he’s about “to blow up” because Kanye has just made sure he will have a huge career.

No joke.

Who is this Paul McCartney / Paul McCarthy / Sir McCarthy?

While how dope the song “Only One” is still subject to debate, fans have already agreed on a couple of things.

Number one is that Kanye probably wrote the most touching and personal song in a very long time, by imagining it as coming out of his mother’s mouth and addressed to his daughter with wife Kim Kardashian, Nori.

Number two is that they must find out one way or another who the other dude credited on it is, because he’s bound to explode really soon: that is the power of Yeezus, he can make a star of any young artist he deigns to put on a record.

Because Google doesn’t seem like a viable option for these Kanye fans, they took to Twitter to wonder out loud about the identity of this Paul McCartney / Paul McCarthy / Sir McCarthy dude, whoever he might be.

Weep for the younger generation

Of course, they didn’t have to wait long until they got a response, but we have a feeling it wasn’t what they expected to hear. That’s because they heard back from angry fans and music lovers in general, who told them that knowing that McCartney is an iconic singer and songwriter was not a matter of taste but of general knowledge.

Paul McCartney isn’t just some dude writing and performing music, he also happens to be one of the best-selling and most influential artists of all times – besides once being a member of a “little” group called The Beatles, aka one of the biggest musical acts of all times. Ever.

Responses to “who is Paul McCartney?” questions on Twitter range from amused to outraged and downright disappointed. Those who fall in that last category believe that all Kanye fans who don’t know who McCartney is, even if they have never listened to his music, represent the worst of the younger generation – and we must weep for them.

Before we all get this gloomy, Bobo has the best response. See it below.
