News from Australia tells us that, soon enough, the city of Sydney, which happens to be the state capital of New South Wales, will be home to a KFC restaurant that will sell not just all kinds of food and soda but also beer and cider.

Information shared with the public says that the restaurant is set to open on Church Street in Parramatta, a suburb and business district in the metropolitan area of Sydney.

Mind you, the news that this KFC join is to sell people beer and cider is not just some rumor. On the contrary, it looks like the fast food chain has already applied for a liquor license for this location.

KFC says that the chief reason it wants to start selling alcoholic beverages at this restaurant in Sydney is that it wants to attract other customers than the ones who now visit its establishments on a regular basis.

The thing is that, not at all surprisingly, there are plenty of people who don't really approve of the fast food chain's plans. Not when KFC restaurants are supposed to be a place where families can spend some quality time together.

“KFC is the last place where alcohol should be sold,” said Mike Daube, a professor of health policy at Curtin University. “This is a company that markets to kids and families,” he added, as cited by the Sydney Morning Herald.
