Kubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet) has been made available, and users can now download and install this pristine KDE experience.

Kubuntu developers don't usually integrate a custom KDE experience, so Kubuntu is the perfect opportunity to test and see what the developers want to achieve with latest and best of KDE. This is close to what the makers of this great desktop environment are really trying to achieve, so you can easily use Kubuntu as a standard by which any other KDE-powered OS can be judged.

To make things even more interesting, Kubuntu has just undergone as a major change. The system has moved to Plasma 5, a new desktop of the KDE project, which is a massive undertaking. It retains some of the same design choices with the old Plasma version, but it's also quite different in many areas.

Kubuntu 15.04 is a real surprise

If you haven't kept up with the progress made by the Kubuntu team and you're just giving this a try, you're going to be very surprised. The new Kubuntu is a completely different beast, and it will sure turn a lot of heads.

"Plasma 5, the next generation of KDE's desktop has been rewritten to make it smoother to use while retaining the familiar setup. The second set of updates to Plasma 5 is now stable enough for everyday use and is the default in this version of Kubuntu," reads the official announcement.

Plasmas 5.2 has been out for quite some time, but the Kubuntu devs have just announced that the users of this operating system will be able to try out the latest Plasma 5.3 Beta, which also comes with a large number of features.

You can find more details about Kubuntu 15.10 (Vivid Vervet) in the official announcement, and you can download the latest stable image from Softpedia.
