As per her own admission, Jennifer Lopez works very hard to stay in shape, which explains why, at 45, she has the best figure in showbiz right now. Said figure is the result of a very strict eating plan and daily grueling workouts under the supervision of tough celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson.

But Jennifer wants you to believe that you too could get a body like that if you took the pills and shakes she’s shilling for right now, a new weight loss program called BodyLab that claims to burn fat with minimum effort, but is yet to be FDA approved.

Be the best you

Embedded below, you will find the first ad for BodyLab with Jennifer Lopez, a full minute of long looks at her muscular and golden body that climaxes with a closeup on her smiling face. In voiceover, Jennifer says that women should strive to become the best “they” and that BodyLab was there to help them.

It was a program designed by women for women, she said. It comes with app, too.

The other video is a chat with Extra TV’s Mario Lopez, on the set of the same ad, in which Jennifer talks about her constant struggle to stay in shape and how portion control and hard work are her only secrets for looking this good and being in excellent shape.

She shills for the BodyLab shakes, which she says she drinks every morning.

“BodyLab is a line of supplements and protein shakes and all kinds of things where you can enhance your workout,” JLo also tells ABC. “You know, you have to work hard. There’s no like, magic pill. I’m very much about women, women empowerment, being the best you. Different things about our metabolism that is totally different from men. A lot of the supplements out there are made for men. We just want to look good. We want to be hot.”

Just another celebrity endorsement deal

Jennifer starts her Extra interview by saying there’s no magic pill for good health and an excellent figure, but this is exactly what BodyLab supplements and shakes seem to promise, which is noticeable at a first glance on the newly launched website.

Most products available there are to be taken in conjunction with a diet and regular workout plan, but they also promise things that are not scientifically possible, like targeted fat loss. Researchers have established that you can’t target weight loss through physical exercise, and you most definitely can’t do it with supplements or shakes.

Still, the Thermodynamic TotalBurn supplement boasts of being able “to switch a woman’s body into fat-breakdown mode in order to preferentially burn away her body fat ‘sinks’ and use them for fuel.”

In other words, chances are Jennifer Lopez looks the way she does because of the “traditional” way of keeping in shape: diet / portion control / healthy eating and plenty of exercise. Now that she has the body, she must have thought she might as well make some money by attaching her name to a weight loss product that is, at a first glance at least, too good to be true.
