He will appear as Aquaman in 4 movies for Warner Bros.

Jason Momoa is thrilled that he’s joining the team over at Warner Bros. looking to bring some of the most popular DC Comics heroes to life on the big screen. He’s never made a secret of it, at least not after confirmation finally came that he would be playing Aquaman in at least 4 Warners movies, including his very own spinoff.

With next year’s “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Warners will be effectively launching their response to Marvel’s huge and very successful Avengers universe, in the hopes that it will make up for lost time (and money).

Jason has thoughts on that too.

Jason Momoa has message for Marvel, awesome penmanship

The Indiana Comic-Con took place over the weekend, and Momoa was in attendance. One fan caught up with him and kindly asked him to sign his Aquaman poster, the only official image of him in character we have right now.

You can see it in the photo attached to this article, as it was posted to director Zack Snyder’s Twitter. Reddit has a photo of the copy of the signed poster, which we can’t use here because Momoa included with his autograph a message to Marvel: “[Expletive] Marvel,” he wrote when the fan asked him to put something down that he’d tell all those “DC haters.”

He has excellent penmanship, though. And quite the guts to stand up like this and risk incurring the wrath of all the Marvel fanboys out there, who, it is known, can turn pretty vicious when they come across something that they don’t like.

Then again, Momoa isn’t the kind to be easily scared.

A bright future ahead

Since he starred as Khal Drogo in the first season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” Momoa’s star has been rising. He carried a few action movies and has been recently trying to branch out into directing and producing, but he never really quite arrived.

This will happen once he takes over the role of Aquaman. Since the casting was announced, rumors have it that the first cameo will be included in next year’s “Dawn of Justice,” which will serve to introduce the character to moviegoers and thus prepare them for the 2017 release “Justice League Part One.”

The year after that, in 2018, Momoa will star in his standalone pic, “Aquaman,” on the condition that the reinvented character will sit well with comic book fans and wider audiences. Based on this only photo we got of him, it’s clear that this isn’t exactly the same Aquaman we had in the comics: he’s bigger, badder, more dangerous looking.

So right now, Momoa has every reason to feel confident enough to provoke Marvel fans. He can take whatever they got for him.
