The highly-anticipated JOBS film currently being handled by Universal Studios (after Sony passed the baton over to them) is finally being shot. People with access to one iconic location in the Los Altos area (California, USA) have confirmed that camera crews are swirling around the legendary garage where it all started.

Written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle, the biopic will consist of three half-hour scenes showing the visionary genius as he prepares for major product unveilings, including the original Macintosh, and the iPod. Filming crews were spotted a few days ago at the Los Altos garage where Jobs and Wozniak co-founded Apple Computer.

Years in the making

Work on JOBS started in 2012, soon after the CEO had passed away. However, another biopic featuring Ashton Kutcher as the Apple co-founder was also in production. That movie was completed much earlier, but it also turned out to be a flop, with critics agreeing that it basically just acted out Apple stories from Wikipedia.

Based on the biography by Walter Isaacson, Universal’s movie will have Michael Fassbender as Jobs, while Seth Rogen will portray Steve Wozniak, the other Apple co-founder who rarely got much attention in Apple’s first years.

Jeff Daniels will also be in the film, playing former Apple CEO John Sculley. Formerly the head of Pepsi Co., Sculley was responsible for firing Jobs from his own company after Jobs himself instated him as CEO of Apple.

Jobs’ legendary pitch to Sculley was: “Do you want to sell sugared water for the rest of your life? Or do you want to come with me and change the world?”

Perla Haney-Jardine and Michael Stuhlbarg will also appear in the movie, playing Jobs’ daughter Lisa and Macintosh engineer Andy Hertzfeld, respectively.
