If there’s one man Justin Bieber looks up to, career-wise, that’s Mark Wahlberg: he got his start as Marky Mark in rap, became a Calvin Klein underwear model (and one of the most famous of all time, too), got started in acting with light rom-coms and action movies, and is now one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood.

With roles like those in “The Fighter” and “The Gambler,” Wahlberg is also making the transition from bankable actor to serious, established thespian. Or at the very least, he’s getting the critics to pay attention to him for more than just his ripped physique.

Bieber wants that too.

More shirtless photos, real talk

Some years ago, when he was asked how he imagined his career after he outgrew the tween phase, Justin revealed that he’d love one as varied and successful as Wahlberg’s. Now that he’s landed his first Calvin Klein underwear endorsement deal, and the campaign is getting as much attention as Wahlberg’s iconic one, there’s no denying that the similarities are there.

If you have not had enough of Bieber and his shirtless physique, good news: he’s also featured in the latest issue of V Magazine, the Music Issue, which will be out on newsstands on January 15.

The photos were snapped by Chanel designer and famed photographer Karl Lagerfeld, and are accompanied by an interview with the pop start. Among other things, The Biebs confirms that he plans on using his successful music career as a launching pad.

So what’s next for the world’s favorite teen idol? Film and fashion.

Branching out, sharing the creativity

“I still have so many personal and professional goals I want to achieve,” Justin says. “I want to keep creating music for my fans. Once day I hope to make strides into movies and fashion as well. I want to share my creativity with the world.”

He doesn’t say if he already has plans on making this happen, but chances are he does because with someone as famous as him, you can’t just let things happen by themselves, without doing nothing. His Calvin Klein deal is proof that he’s willing to use his star power to get the things he wants, because he’s been lobbying to become a CK model (which also included wearing nothing but CK underwear and not pulling up his pants) until it finally happened.

In 2015 though, Bieber will be back with new music, telling the magazine he’s itching to offer fans new songs after taking most of 2014 off to chill.

Ten years from now, Justin sees himself as a married man, still working and enjoying success in music – and hopefully film and fashion as well.
