Nvidia's special PC gaming event is a big success

Nvidia has played a big role in the gaming industry for quite some time, helping out Sony with the GPU portion of the PS3 during the last console generation. This cycle, however, the large graphics card corporation is sitting things out, as both the PS4 and the Xbox One are using AMD components.

As such, Nvidia has doubled down on the PC gaming sector, positioning itself as one of its key backers. Besides launching new graphics cards, the company is also investing heavily in the celebration of the PC as a gaming platform.

Game24 celebrates the PC and Nvidia's products

In honor of the release of its latest GTX 980 and 970 graphics cards, the company decided to organize a global event across multiple cities, countries, and continents, called Game24.

The story of its organization is quite thrilling, as Nvidia has told Softpedia that the actual idea appeared during Gamescom last month. In just a few weeks, the big corporation managed to book locations, equipment, and, of course, games for participants to experience. Throw in the logistical support for its invited guests, such as media representatives, and the company has displayed a show of force.

Softpedia was invited at the Nvidia Game24 London event, one of the key ones, besides Los Angeles.

Lots of games were on display

Even two to three hours before the doors of the venue swung open, there was already a queue of regular gamers lining up to be the first to jump into the testing stations. Participants were treated by Nvidia and its partners to regular PC demo stations for games like Lords of the Fallen, The Crew, Metro Redux, World Of Tanks, and many more. There was a huge 4K screen connected to a powerful PC running Project Cars in all its glory, as well as an Oculus Rift DK2 station with the same racing game.

Those interested in the new Nvidia Shield tablet were also able to get their hands on it and its dedicated controller and play titles like Portal, Trine 2, and more, all running on the Android platform.

Periodically, the Game24 London venue took over the main live stream organized by the company to show those at home what they were missing out. However, even the regular watchers had plenty of things to admire, from key segments with Nvidia's executives to live demonstrations of some of the games present on the event floor.

Besides celebrating Nvidia's new products, the Game24 event also saw several eSport competitions take place, with some of the world's best teams competing over Dota 2 or Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Regular gamers also had a chance to express themselves throughout the 24-hour event, while those present at the venues were also treated to professional DJs, free food, and drinks.

Nvidia is preparing other events

Overall, the whole event was great for both those who participated in real-life, as well as those who watched from home. Nvidia's new products have certainly had a warm welcome with the community, and PC gaming is growing even more in popularity.

Considering its resounding success despite being organized in such a short time, you can expect Nvidia to plan even more such events in the future, in honor of other upcoming launches and announcements.
