A 40-year-old man accused of having downloaded adult content involving children was acquitted of all charges after it was proven that the man had involuntarily downloaded it to his work computer.

According to the Daily Herald, the engineer from Illinois was passionate about battlefield memorabilia, so he was online looking for information on WWII.

While looking for war-related info on uTorrent, he seems to have accidentally downloaded child pornography, which he claims to have found absolutely “disgusting.”

He then proceeded to move all that data in a separate folder to get rid of it at a later date, but he somehow forgot about it. His company found the material in his laptop and alerted the FBI, which made a movie-worthy descent to his house.

The man was obviously taken by surprise by the whole occurrence, not knowing what to make of the frightening allegations.

Wocjciech Florczykowski, the man accused of having downloaded the adult content, fully cooperated with the police, claiming that it had never been his intention to watch the files they had found in his computer.

Furthermore, he declared that he had never even searched for such kind of content online and the Regional Computer Forensics Laboratory in Chicago proved that he was not lying after a detailed investigation of his search history.

The man was able to prove his innocence

Three years after the incident was brought to light, the man can now rest assured as the Illinois court has declared him innocent of the charges brought against him.

It seems that the man refused to make any statements regarding the series of events which could have led to his imprisonment, but his case has people a bit worried. Anyone could one day find himself in his place just because the Internet is a dangerous place.

This innocent man could have gone to jail, running the risk of wrongly being considered a sex-offender for all his life.

His lawyer stated that the case should serve as a lesson for everyone out there to be more careful about how they use the Internet, The Daily Herald revealed.

Given all the torment that the man has had to go through, people are now wondering if the employer was wrong to alert the FBI in the first place. Some believe that the whole situation could have easily been avoided if only the employer had sat down and talked to the man before getting the authorities involved in the case.
