Did you break the screen of your new iPhone 6? The bad news is you're gonna have to pay for it. The good news is that Apple's fee is lower than for every other iPhone around.

Fixing the iPhone 6 Plus and even older models like iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c will set you back $129 (€100.15). The screen replacement for an iPhone 6 will only cost $109 (€84.63). There's also a $6.95 (€5.40) shipping fee.

Where can you fix it?

Apple has published their Repair & Service prices and procedure. Basically, when you drop your iPhone you can either call or email to schedule your assistance service and then mail in your iPhone. You can also take the device for a Genius Bar appointment in an Apple retail Store if there's one around you.

After you take it in, you will look at three to five business days to get it back. In case the phone is damaged for good, you will receive a new or equivalent replacement.

There's also another option for clumsy people and it's called AppleCare+. This is an insurance policy that gets you some good advantages. You can fix your phone twice in a year and you only pay $79 (€61.33). Also, when you take yours in for a fix, you get a replacement even before you send it.

Battery and other replacements

When it comes to changing your battery, Apple has a different procedure: send in your iPhone and they will run some diagnostics on it. If there was no accidental damage, Apple may replace it for free, if it is still covered by the warranty. If not, the battery service costs $79 (€61.33).

Apple has also published their out-of-warranty charges. For example, if you need to fix the iPhone 6 Plus you have to pay $329 (€255.43). The charge for the iPhone 6 is $299 (€232.14) and it drops to $269 (€208.85) for the iPhone 5s, 5c and the iPhone 5. If you need to fix the good-old iPhone 4S, the cost is $199 (€154.50), but at that price, you are better off buying a working second-hand model.

Did you know Apple can still fix old phones like the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and all the way back to the original iPhone? They do and the charge for it is $149 (€115.68). All of the above prices do not include the local tax and a seven-dollar shipping fee.
