14 DAY TRIAL // Sony has released a brand new marketing video for its handheld gaming device, the PlayStation Vita, showing a number of its upcoming video games.
Many fans of the Vita believe that Sony has given up on the handheld, giving the lack of focus it has gotten over the course of the last few months, and especially since the ability to stream gameplay from a PlayStation 4 is also enabled on Sony's latest smartphones, and with a little bit of tinkering, on a slew of other Android phones.
In any case, Sony promised to keep supporting the device, and assured its fans that it didn't plan to slowly phase it out of existence.
According to the video, Obeshika: Tainted Bloodlines, Jungle Rumble, Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, Helldivers, Shovel Knight, Toukiden: Kiwami, OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood, Titan Souls, Spongebob HeroPants, and Grim Fandango Remastered will be making their way to the handheld this spring.
A lot to look forward to, but nothing really exciting
Sony previously mentioned that the Vita would get a lot of attention this year, with tens of new titles coming to it in the following months, but that it would take the back seat, as the company would focus on pushing the PlayStation 4.
The Japanese corporation also mentioned that it didn't plan to release any more first-party AAA video games for the Vita, and instead emphasized its use as a second screen device.
The video also flaunted the PlayStation Vita's remote play features, with Sony once more trying to remind us that we can enjoy PlayStation 4 titles streamed to the handheld. The ability for the Vita to be used as a second screen device comes in handy when you want to free up the TV for someone else to use, but its usefulness is pretty limited.
It's hard to justify buying a Vita right now, especially when you take into account the lack of effort from Sony when it comes to marketing it, but if you already own one, there will be a couple of games worthy of attention coming out soon.
