Publisher Chucklefish and developer Alonso Martin announce that Heart Forth, Alicia is coming to PC and consoles sometime in early 2016.

The game is a role-playing platformer crafted in the vein of '90s classics such as Metroid and Castlevania, a love letter to the time and genre.

Heart Forth, Alicia combines beautifully crafted pixel art with some modern gameplay mechanics, and sends players on a unique and immersive journey.

Developer Alonso Martin touts the expansive world of the Zelda series, the unique unfolding storyline of Xenogears, and the challenging gameplay of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, all the while introducing a fantasy twist and having slightly darker undertones.

The developer had worked on his own for several years and then turned to Kickstarter for a successful crowdfunding campaign, around a year ago.

Since then, he gained the help of animation studio Fu Essence and Risk of Rain and Starbound makers Chucklefish, and now everything is set for an upcoming release on multiple platforms.

The action takes place on Auster, a floating island hidden within the clouds, the last fragment of a world destroyed in a great catastrophe.

Unfortunately, the last bloodline of the wizards is dwindling, as everyone is aging and no new children are being born, with Alicia and Hostra being the only two that have been born in decades.

When a god spirit attacks the village and possesses Hostra, Alicia heads forth to the Old World below, only to discover that it has endured beneath the clouds.

Now, she has to brave the dangers of the unknown lands and follow a series of intertwined stories, in a fantastic journey to rescue her friend and return home.

Heart Forth, Alicia, is slated for release on PC / OS X / Linux, on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita consoles from Sony, and the Nintendo Wii U home console, in early 2016.
