Danishka Navin has announced today, April 15, the immediate availability for download of his Hanthana Linux 21 computer operating system, a Fedora Linux derivative suitable for laptop and desktop users.

Dubbed Sinharaja, the Hanthana Linux 21 distribution is now based on the upstream Fedora 21 operating system and ships with multiple desktop environments, including GNOME, KDE, Xfce, LXDE, and Sugar.

All the features of the Fedora Linux 21 operating system have been implemented in the new Hanthana Linux release, which also includes additional software packages, such as multimedia codecs and players, development tools, as well as educational and entertainment programs.

"Hanthana 21 release is named 'Sinharaja' after the infamous tropical rainforest in Sri Lanka," says Danishka Navin. "UNESCO identifies Sinharaja as a World Heritage Site. Hantana team thinks it is important to raise awareness on wealth of Sri Lankan wilderness so that the current release is dedicated to Sinharaja."

Several editions of Hanthana Linux 21 are available for download

Hanthana Linux 21 (Sinharaja) is now distributed in multiple editions. For example, Hanthana Linux 21 Live DVD is the main edition of the distribution and has been designed from the ground up to be used by anyone for any task.

In addition, the operating system comes with the Hanthana Linux 21 Edu Live DVD for educational purposes, the Hanthana Linux 21 Dev Live DVD for developers, and Hanthana Linux 21 Light and Hanthana Linux 21 Light 2 Live CDs for those who only want to use office tools.

Each of the above mentioned Hanthana Linux 21 editions come with support for both 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (i686) CPU architectures. You can download Hanthana Linux 21 right now from Softpedia or via the project's official website, where you will find more details about the distribution, as well as alternative download links.
