First off, let's take a few moments to play Captain Obvious: the piece of news you are about to read is for entertainment purposes alone. Do not, under any circumstances, try to replicate the stunt described here at home. Unless you feel like ending up in a hospital or, worse, a morgue.

These being said, allow us to introduce you to Li Liangbin, a Chinese martial arts expert who, when hanged from a tree by his neck, can not only support the weight of his own body but also continue to breathe. Pretty impressive, right?

A kung fu master through and through

As detailed by Oddity Central, Li Liangbin grew fond of martial arts when he was just a child. The man is now 49 years old, and as proven by the photos in the gallery below, he is nothing short of a kung fu master.

Li Liangbin says that, when he first began studying martial arts, he became interested in stories about masters being able to chop up concrete blocks simply by hitting them with their hands or legs, and surviving leaps off freakishly tall buildings.

While working on perfecting his martial arts skills, the man decided to try and bring something new to the world of kung fu. In a nutshell, he decided to try and discipline his body and his mind to such an extent that he would be able to survive a hanging.

The 49-year-old never saw this little project of his as an attempt to show off. On the contrary, he considered it a challenge and did his best to accomplish his goal. Needless to say, all the effort that he put into learning how to survive a hanging eventually paid off.

“Everyone knows about kung fu masters that can chop up concrete blocks or leap off tall buildings, but surviving a hanging is something new,” Li Liangbin said in a statement. “Kung fu is my life and it's important to have a challenge,” he added.

How the heck does he do it?

Before actually going the extra mile and hanging himself from a tree, the man spent about 10 years performing all sorts of exercises that served to toughen up the muscles in his neck and help him gain control over his breathing.

Thus, it is because his neck muscles are freakishly strong that the man can not only continue to breathe while hanging from a tree, but also move about with stunning ease even when his feet are nowhere near the ground. Mind you, he is so good that he can even free himself whenever he chooses to do so.

“I make a noose with a knot and throw it over a tree and then I hang myself. I can carry out some exercises while hanging there and then I can free myself,” the 49-year-old man explained his bizarre exercise routine in a recent interview with the press.

Presently, the man lives in the village of Lizhuang in Dingtao county in China's Shandong province. The people who know him are nothing if not impressed with his skills and cannot help but admit that the 49-year-old really is a kung fu master through and through.
