The studio plans to offer new content to compensate

The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are ensuring all gamers who have purchased Halo: The Master Chief Collection that they will be taken care of in the long term and that the two companies will not rest until they deliver an experience which suits the expectations of the community.

Bonnie Ross, the leader of the team, states in an official update on the Halo Waypoint that his studio will first make sure that it eliminates all issues that the fans have been talking about on forums and after that the focus will shift to compensating them for their trouble.

The developer explains, “On the matchmaking front, we have encountered unexpected issues that were not apparent in our internal test environment and that have resulted in a frustrating experience, including long matchmaking times and low session success rates. Within 343 Industries and Xbox, I can assure you that resolving these issues is our #1 priority.”

At the moment, server-side updates for Halo: The Master Chief Collection are being created in order to improve matchmaking, and other content updates will deal with problems linked to the campaign, the user interface, and other elements of the game.

The developer also apologizes for the current delays and negative experience and claims once more that compensation will be provided, although it’s unclear what it will involve or when it will be offered.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be supported in the long term

Bonnie Ross also says that a new content update is currently in the testing phase and should be out before the end of the week.

He adds, “Only through making changes on both the ‘server side’ (matchmaking and other server rulesets) and, via content updates (to the game itself), can we make the significant progress we’re working towards. And in the interest of expediency, we’re attacking the problem from both sides, non-stop.”

The biggest problem for Halo: The Master Chief Collection on launch was the one linked to matchmaking, and the developers moved fast to cut playlists and to deliver updates for that side of the experience.

Plenty of gamers are still reporting that they are unable to join matches in multiplayer.

It’s unclear how 343 Industries will be able to deliver the promised fixes and content updates, as they are also pushing ahead with the development process for Halo 5: Guardians, which is supposed to enter a closed beta period on December 29.
