The team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft might still be working to introduce full functionality to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but they are also aiming to improve the Championship Series competition with a bigger prize pool and new rules for the Finals.

The official announcement on Halo Waypoint explains that most of the feedback the player community has been offering will be implemented when Season 2 rolls around, with input also being handled by the ESL and by Twitch.

But for the Season One Finals of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection Championship Series, the studio is announcing that, "One of the most important pieces of feedback we’ve heard is that all players – from amateur to top teams – simply want more opportunities to compete and earn more money in the HCS. We greatly understand, not only the importance of regulated prize pools that appropriately reward top competitors, but also the growth of the HCS year over year. I’m excited to announce that we’re doubling the prize pool at the Season 1 Finals to $100,000."

343 Industries is also updating the rules that will govern matches in both the Gamers for Giving event and the Season 1 Finals, all of which can be seen by clicking on the button at the end of this article.

Che Chou, who leads the eSports team at the studio, says that the changes are made in order to make sure that no one can claim the competitions are not delivering the expected standard of quality.

He also says that Season 2 for the Halo: The Master Chief Collection Championship will be detailed in the coming weeks.

The title is getting more updates soon

343 Industries announced that it was planning to launch a beta testing period for the next content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, in order to test the big mechanics modifications.

Since then, it has canceled these plans and it seems that they will offer more info on what is being changed before the end of the month.

The studio is also working on a remake of Relic, which will introduce some surprises.

During the year the company is also aiming to launch Halo 5: Guardians, the next title in the franchise, on the Xbox One at some point in the fall.
