Halo: The Master Chief Collection is set to receive its massive April content update next week, and now developer 343 Industries confirms that it will bring quite a few added improvements, while following its release, ranks will appear for many playlists.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection launched back in November of last year on the Xbox One console, and unfortunately for the franchise's millions of fans, the package of classic Halo titles ran into quite a few multiplayer problems on the new console.

After a multitude of patches and updates, developer 343 Industries finally managed to make things right, and since then, it's been rolling out quite a few enhancements to the game.

The April update for Halo: MCC is coming next week

The biggest one is set to appear next week, in the form of the long-awaited April content update. While 343 Industries mentions on the blog that a release date can't be shared just yet, as the patch is now in the certification process.

Even so, the studio confirms some of the main features of the new update, starting with new penalties and better monitoring for players who quit or betray their allies. A variety of improvements and bug fixes for the ranking system are also coming, alongside an updated Halo 3 Forge tool that allows editing for all game types.

New ranks and resets are coming after the patch

Shortly after the update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection drops, 343 plans on bringing ranks to additional playlists like Team Slayer and the Halo Champions Series. However, before that happens, ranks will be reset for Halo 2: Anniversary.

The studio will monitor the results shortly after these changes, and if everything goes smoothly, 343 will bring ranks to other playlists.

"With this same update, we’ll be bringing SWAT back as the featured playlist, this time with Halo 3 game types included, as the April CU will also bring with it some additional fixes to allow for Halo 3 map / game type integration into new and existing playlists. This also means that over the next few updates, you can expect more non-default Halo 3 maps and game types to make their way into matchmaking," the studio explains.

Expect the full patch notes for Halo: The Master Chief Collection April update to appear soon enough.
