343 Industries confirms that it wants to ensure that Halo 5 makes a big impact when it launches on the Xbox One later this year by not only bringing forth a great multiplayer mode or a story campaign with an epic scale, but also through non-game interactions like the Forge map-making system and other such things.

Halo 5: Guardians is the next big iteration in the first-person shooter series originally envisioned by Bungie and now overseen by 343 Industries. It's the third major project from the next studio, after Halo 4 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and already many fans are excited about it.

The game got a very early multiplayer beta from the end of December until late January, so that 343 could get a better understanding of what fans want from the online mode in Halo 5.

Halo 5 has lofty goals concerning its main aspects

Now, 343 boss Frank O'Connor talks with GamesRadar about the main goals of the new game, starting with the actual multiplayer mode. He admits that, with Halo 4, the team wasn't exactly sure what fans resonated with when it came to the long-running series, but the new beta has resulted in some great feedback.

However, a major aspect that's certainly going to delight fans is the epic scale of the whole project, thanks to great technology that powers its gameplay mechanics, not to mention the non-game elements, like the Forge map making system.

"The thing I’m most proud of in Halo 5 is that the things we’re doing with the technology are designed to speak to the things that appeal to me about Halo in the first place – which are scale, epicness and the world-building that the original Halo: Combat Evolved did on the Xbox. We also want to go back to that space of innovation with features and non-game interactions with things like Forge and save films – we want to make as big an impact on Xbox One as the game series has on Xbox 360 and the original Xbox," he explains.

The goals are certainly ambitious, to say the least, and until events like E3 2015, 343 isn't likely to share anything else about Halo 5: Guardians, in order to really surprise fans.
