The Silver requirement was made by mistake

The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are revealing that, actually, it will not be possible to enjoy the cooperative campaign experience in the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians with a simple Silver level Xbox Live account.

A clarification on the Halo Waypoint site explains that gamers who are interested in that game mode will actually have to pay for an Xbox Live Gold account in order to play, regardless of the information that was previously offered in Game Informer.

The two companies add, "That said, it is important to us that fans have the opportunity to play the full co-op campaign experience, and we are doing this by providing a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial with Halo 5: Guardians."

It would have been interesting to see Microsoft offering coop in Halo 5: Guardians for free to gamers to get them interested in the mode.

Fans have reacted negatively to the clarification from the company, suggesting that a 14-day trial for Xbox Live Gold is a bad way to motivate the community to stay engaged with cooperative play in the long term.

Halo 5: Guardians will allow four gamers to work together in the campaign, using the perspective of both Master Chief and Agent Locke.

343 Industries is aiming to deliver a complete game experience

The fact that the new Halo experience includes a full cooperative mode is a sign that the development team and Microsoft are trying to create a complete experience for the fans.

Gamers can also go into the campaign solo, experiencing a story that will involve some other Spartans and the future of Master Chief.

When it comes to the multiplayer modes, 343 Industries has promised that it is tweaking the new Spartan powers that were first shown during the beta period earlier in the year.

Those who want to turn them off will be able to play Custom games with their friends.

The development team is also aiming to launch 16 new maps as free downloadable content for the shooter in order to make sure that gamers remain engaged with the title.

Multiplayer will also require the player to have a Gold account for Xbox Live.

Halo 5: Guardians will be launched on the Xbox One on October 27.
