Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are confirming that they are planning to introduce at least a set of collectible content in the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, giving gamers a clear reason to explore the game world as thoroughly as possible.

The information comes from Josh Holmes, who leads the studio and has taken the time to answer some questions from fans on his official Twitter account.

He has not offered a full-throated confirmation and there are no details about the way collectibles in Halo 5: Guardians will be implemented and whether the system will be similar to the skulls or the terminals from previous installments in the series.

Holmes also says that, at the moment, the title still needs more development work before it gets close to the moment when it goes Gold, which means no more changes are being made to the core code and disks are ready for manufacturing.

Halo 5: Guardians is a complex experience and the fact that it needs to deliver solid experiences for both single-player and multiplayer fans will probably mean that actual work on it will be ongoing until about one month before it is launched.

343 Industries needs to keep the game familiar while also innovating

The new title in the long-running franchise needs to walk a very fine line as it tries to satisfy all those who have played all the previous installments, while also introducing entirely new elements to keep the series moving forward.

In the multiplayer department, 343 Industries has already shown that the new Spartan abilities and the design of the maps are both set to encourage players to try out new tactics and focus more on movement.

When it comes to the single-player campaign, it seems that the studio wants to focus on the person of Master Chief, while also encouraging gamers to question his actions and motives.

The two live-action trailers for Halo 5: Guardians and the massive Hunt the Truth promotional campaign are suggesting that at least two perspectives on the same events will be introduced, with one of them belonging to Agent Locke.

New Spartans are also set to be introduced and will play a big role in the narrative.

Halo 5: Guardians will be launched on October 27 of this year on the Xbox One.
