The development team at 343 Industries might have a lot of work to do on Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but the company has managed to launch a small pre-beta testing period for Halo 5: Guardians, which has apparently been a success and has generated a lot of information for the studio to now analyze.

The official Halo Waypoint announcement states, “We’d like to offer our thanks to all who took part in this weekend's Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta Stress test, which will close at 12AM PST tonight. The past few days of pre-Beta play have allowed us to gather invaluable data as well as run a variety of tests on our servers, and it is our hope that you enjoyed a sneak peek at just a small portion of the content that will be offered.”

During the weekend, only gamers who are part of the Xbox One Preview program were able to download Halo 5: Guardians in pre-beta form and experience the content included in Week 1 of the coming test period.

On December 29, the game will be opened to all those who have bought Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and they will be able to experience multiplayer content, with a number of maps and game modes, for three weeks.

343 Industries adds, “We're looking forward to rolling out the full Beta to all of you, and also receiving your valuable feedback on your experiences with Arena multiplayer.”

Halo 5: Guardians has some new gameplay mechanics

The development team is not saying at the moment how gamers reacted to the new mechanics that will be part of the shooter, including the sprinting and the Smart Scope, both of them designed to allow players to enjoy a more dynamic battlefield.

343 Industries has already said that all the modifications it is making to Halo 5: Guardians will be thoroughly tested and that their mechanics will be tweaked in order to make sure that the community is satisfied.

The shooter will also have an extensive single-player campaign which will focus on Master Chief, who will have to once again face a threat that aims to wipe out all life in the galaxy.

There are no official details at the moment, but it seems that gamers will also spend a lot of time with Agent Locke, who was introduced to the Halo universe via the Nightfall live-action series.

Halo 5: Guardians will be launched in the fall of 2015 only on the Xbox One.
