Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Activision are ready to reveal that Halo 5: Guardians is set to be launched on October 27 of this year, exclusively on the Xbox One home console, while also delivering a new live-action trailer for the shooter, focused on the interaction between Master Chief and Agent Locke.

The footage is one minute long and features the protagonist of the Halo: Nightfall series as he finally meets the most important character in the universe of the series, apparently on a planet which has been heavily affected by orbital bombardment.

Agent Locke suggests that Master Chief has somehow betrayed the human race and that his actions have caused the devastation, but he does not make it clear what events actually happened or what caused them.

But the trailer does suggest that the relatively peaceful state of the universe of the game has been shattered by an outside force.

Master Chief is heavily wounded and Agent Locke seems poised to take him out in order to get revenge for his actions.

The production of the live-action trailer is gorgeous, but it does not introduce any actual details about the story that will be told in Halo 5: Guardians.

The launch date was previously predicted by the community to be at some point in November.

Halo 5: Guardians will also feature a new take on multiplayer

More hints about the story of the game will continue to be dropped via the Hunt the Truth site, which features a fictional journalist who is digging into the past of Master Chief and explores his traitorous turn.

The story of the game will be very important to fans and will be supplemented by the launch of more novels and comic books associated with it.

343 Industries is also working to make sure that the multiplayer side of Halo 5: Guardians will be solid on launch, using beta data to make changes.

The team is introducing new capabilities for all Spartans involved in combat, but it has already announced that it will allow gamers to turn them off when they are playing Custom Games.
