Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are ready to reveal the official cover art for the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, which is designed to give fans a look at some new mysterious characters that will play a big role in the story of the title.

The image is interesting and will probably be explored for days by the most dedicated fans of the franchise.

The reveal took place after a series of images linked to Halo 5: Guardians were distributed, and the dedicated player community then took over and made sense of them all.

The official announcement states, "We’re proud to release the final cover art for Halo 5: Guardians, including a special video version that highlights the Spartan fireteams that play a crucial role in the showdown between the Master Chief and Spartan Locke."

More details will be offered about the story of Halo 5: Guardians at the E3 2015 Microsoft event.

In the meantime, fans of the coming first-person shooter can continue to look for new episodes of the Hunt the Truth audio-focused promotion.

The series will offer more details about Master Chief and about the way the past of the character has been manipulated by forces in order to create an official story that is very far from the real one.

Halo 5: Guardians will focus on both single and multiplayer

343 Industries and Microsoft have been lately focusing on the narrative of the first Master Chief-focused title that is designed from the ground up for the Xbox One home console.

But the game cannot succeed if it does not also have a strong multiplayer component.

The beta testing period for Halo 5: Guardians that took place earlier in the year allowed 343 Industries to gather a lot of data and feedback about the mechanics it is adding, including the new Spartan abilities.

The studio says that it will introduce more information about the tweaks it is making in the coming months, but it has been confirmed that custom matches will allow for all the newly added powers to be disabled.

Microsoft also plans to launch a major promotional campaign for Halo 5: Guardians, which will focus on the dueling realities that Locke and Master Chief are offering.

The shooter will be released on October 27 of this year.
