Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are announcing that they are planning to deliver the Halo 2: Anniversary documentary, called Remaking the Legend, on October 31 via the Xbox Video feature, on the official channel on Twitch and on the special Halo Channel.

Re-creating one of the classic shooter experiences was hard for the studio because they had to make a lot of decisions about the aspects of the title that would remain the same and the mechanics that would be improved in order to appeal to a new segment of the public.

Tina Summerford, the director of programming at 343 Industries, states on the Xbox Wire that “We hit the road to capture the process from top to bottom, talking to all of the key players who helped bring Halo 2: Anniversary into the next gen and giving our fans unprecedented access to this process.”

The new version of the shooter is designed to use the power of the Xbox One to deliver better graphics and remade cutscenes.

The new Remaking the Legend documentary for Halo 2: Anniversary will include appearances from members of the team at 343 Industries, fans, professional players and other major figures from the video game industry.

Initially, the creators had more than 400 hours of footage and 80 interviews to work with, and the resulting feature managed to offer a solid insight into the development process and the passion associated with the game.

The director of programming adds, “As we got deeper into the project, we realized we couldn't talk about Halo 2’s impact on the industry without telling the story of Halo’s origins. It’s pretty awesome to hear the original team from Bungie talk about the beginning of this franchise and it’s something we think both new and old fans will appreciate.”

Halo has a big future on the Xbox One

Halo is one of the franchises on which Microsoft is focusing when it comes to the future of the Xbox One.

On November 11, gamers will be able to get the new Master Chief Collection, which includes remade versions of the core four titles in the franchise.

The package also includes extra content and a code which can be used to get access to the multiplayer beta for Halo 5: Guardians, which will take place in the winter of this year.

343 Industries has promised that the new installment of the shooter will significantly improve the mechanics of the franchise and is expected to arrive in late 2015.
