The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are continuing to deliver information about the content which will be included in the coming Halo 2 Anniversary edition, which itself is part of the new Master Chief Collection package.

The companies announce that they are offering a remake of the classic Coagulation map, which started life in Combat Evolved as Blood Gulch, using the name Bloodline.

The new combat environment is created by Certain Affinity and has been re-designed from the ground up in order to be bigger, better and deadlier than before, appealing to both long-term fans of the shooter series and to newcomers in equal measure.

On the Xbox Wire site, the development team states, "It’s like a 'Best Of' collection for all the iterations of Blood Gulch. Longtime players will note new additions, like the UNSC Hornets from Halo 3 behind each base and a small bridge to the side that offers new areas of cover for players attacking it."

Each of the bases included in Bloodline has an EMP which is designed to counter attacks that are using either Warthogs or Hornets, and the map has a new midfield area which features Banshee and Warthog vehicles that can be used by either team.

The developers add, "New and old Halo players alike will find much to love about the new Bloodline. It takes the best elements of Blood Gulch and Coagulation and throws in some new additions that keep the map feeling fresh, while still sparkling with plenty of Halo nostalgia."

Halo 2 celebrates ten years since launch

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is set to be offered only on the Xbox One home console from Microsoft on November 11 and will also offer gamers access to five other maps taken from Halo 2: Ascension, Lockout, Sanctuary, Warlock, and Zanzibar.

Each of them has been re-designed in order to appeal to modern gamers and the entire game structure has been revamped, with gamers able to switch at will between classic and modern modes.

Those who pick up the new package will get access to all the core Halo experiences and they will also be able to use a key to get access to the multiplayer-only beta for Halo 5: Guardians that will be offered during winter.

A special Halo 2 Anniversary themed documentary will be shown on the Halo Channel and on Twitch on October 31, delivering details on how the game has been re-created.
