HTC’s new flagship will be quite similar to the previous M8

HTC’s upcoming flagship, the One M9 or Hima how it has been dubbed in the rumor mill for the last few months, is coming out at MWC 2015.

As we wait on the big event, the French website Nowhereelse has provided us with a bunch of images showcasing the upcoming device.

They are actually press renders so they seem like the real deal, with one image showing the alleged back of the new smartphones, while the others detail what seems to be an official case accessory for the handset.

A recent report from Bloomberg stipulated that the One M9 would be extremely similar to last year’s flagship and these new images only come to confirm what was said not so long before.

HTC hasn't done much about the M9's design

Judging by the pictures, Hima will most likely look exactly the same as the One M8, except for the Duo Camera and the power button which has been moved to the right side, to sit below the volume rocker.

As it’s very evident in the images, the handset will take advantage of an angular camera.

Another important piece of evidence comes from Nowhereelese’s Editor-in-Chief, Steve Hammerstoffer, who superimposed an alleged image of the HTC One M9 over one of the One M8. The result? The differences are minuscule.

As you can see, the HTC One M9 will apparently come boasting a slightly shrunken bottom bezel and a thinner bezel on the side. Also, the frontal camera seems a tad larger than One M8’s.

So it is quite clear at this point that Hima won’t be knocking your shoes off when it comes out, at least not in the design department.

HTC is betting on specs with the M9

HTC probably believes Hima can sustain itself by virtue of its specs. The handset is expected to arrive with a 5-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and the “dreaded” Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood fitted with 3GB of RAM.

We could also see a 20MP take the frontal position and a 13MP selfie shooter sitting on the back. Android 5.0.1 will be the operating system onboard with HTC’s own Sense 7 UI plastered on top.

Looking at the specs, we can say they are all too similar to what this spring’s flagships will bring to the table. It’s no wonder LG is taking extra time developing its upcoming G4. The company really wants to step out of the crowd somehow.
