HTC Desire EYE is put to the ultimate torture test

Subjecting handsets to drop tests and endurance tests isn't exactly something we haven’t seen before. But the next one we’re going to talk about is pretty darn crazy.

HTC rolled out the Desire EYE handset to appease fans who weren't satisfied with the 4MP Ultrapixel rear camera on the HTC One (M8).

Well, the Desire EYE certainly made things right, adding a 13MP on the back of the handset and a “super selfie” one up in the front.

More than that, HTC also stuffed Eye Experience on the smartphone, a platform which offers access to features such as Face Fusion, Screen Share, Face Tracking and so on.

The HTC Desire EYE can do photography, but is it resistant?

So the phone is pretty accomplished in the camera department. Anyway, if you were wondering how sturdy the handset actually is, the folks of Digiato are willing to answer your question.

They took the phone out for a stroll at the Eram Zoo in Teheran, where they performed a bunch of drop tests, which is nothing special. The phone managed to survive, even if the first time it was dropped, the Desire EYE’s screen cracked.

The next test, however, really put a monstrous strain on HTC’s camera-centric device. An elephant (yes, you read that correct, elephant) was “instructed” to put his foot down over the Desire EYE and step over it.

What was left of the phone? Apparently, the device was still in condition to snap a selfie, and apart from the cracked display sustained from the previous drop and a few pixel incongruities, it seemed to be still alive and kicking.

The results seem to proclaim the extreme sturdiness of the Desire EYE, but do bear in mind that the elephant was stepping on a muddy surface and wasn't taken out of its pen to a rougher surface, like asphalt or concrete.

If you don’t believe that this is what really happened, go ahead and check the video below.
