HTC still hasn't announced a smartphone with Quad HD display. Although many think that this type of screens drains too much battery life to be worth putting into a smartphone, more and more handset makers adopt it.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are among the last flagship smartphones announced that will feature Quad HD displays, but LG is expected to unveil its G4 next month as well.

Taiwanese company HTC is rumored to launch a third device in the Butterfly series, which is said to pack a Quad HD display. However, since the information hasn't been confirmed yet, we recommend our readers to take it with a grain of salt for now.

The good news is we might find out the Butterfly 3's full specs sheet sooner rather than later. According to @upleaks, HTC Butterfly 3 is expected to be released in April / May and the first country to get it will be Japan.

The Butterfly 3 will be available through major carrier KDDI in three color options: white, blue and red. For the time being, it's unclear whether or not the smartphone will be launched in the EMEA and North America regions, but more details will probably emerge as we're getting closer to release.

VoLTE support and 5.2-inch Quad HD display

Apart from the fact that the HTC Butterfly 3 will boast a 5.2-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display, there aren't any other details leaked for now.

There's also speculation that the smartphone might support VoLTE (Voice over LTE), which is something that KDDI carrier has recently switched to.

We also expect the handset to be powered by an octa-core processor, but HTC has to choose between the “standard” Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and a MediaTek one.

It will probably come with at least 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. MicroSD card slot would be nice to have as well, along with a decent camera on the back. Stay tuned for more updates on this one.
