SOE banned many of the aimbot-using flying bowmen

Sony Online Entertainment, or Daybreak if you will, issued a large wave of bans for players caught cheating in H1Z1, the company's brand new zombie survival online game.

Sony sold the studio, with Sony Online Entertainment announcing its independence and new name of Daybreak Game Company earlier today.

The move included the company's three main games, PlanetSide 2, EverQuest Next, and zombie survival MMO H1Z1.

It also included the many cheaters plaguing the massively multiplayer online sandbox experience, so the company decided to step up and throw the banhammer around a bit.

The game recently launched on Steam Early Access and has a thriving and steadily growing user base, a fact which SOE / Daybreak intends to bank on, but there are already numerous reports of players cheating and making things worse for everyone else.

Gamers are claiming being one-shotted by flying aimbots, which is especially more aggravating since the survival experience means that you lose all your hard-earned progress upon death. As if having zombies running all over the place were not enough.

Some players are claiming that cheaters can quickly run around and rake up a kill count of tens of other people, which prompted Daybreak to action.

Many gamers found themselves locked out of H1Z1 for cheating

Jimmy Whisenhunt, senior game designer on H1Z1, took to Twitter to make the announcements, following a bunch of complaints logged on Reddit, regarding the widespread cheating problems that the game has.

He let everyone know that the bans were being handed out with generosity, thanking the people who cheated for the donation.

As H1Z1 requires that you buy your way in, many gamers are left hanging now, unable to log in anymore. One player even reported that he had bought four separate copies of H1Z1, because he kept getting caught cheating.

Whisenhunt also revealed a specialized email account where you can report cheaters that you find in H1Z1, running around and messing with everyone's experience, and assured everyone that the instant bans were just one of the ways that the company planned to fight cheating, and that they were in it for the long haul.
