Grand Theft Auto V, the new open world experience from developer Rockstar and publisher Take Two, has managed to regain the United Kingdom video game chart number one position during the week in which it became available for the Xbox One home console from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

The game is, according to UKIE data, the experience which has generated the most revenue in the country for the industry, taking the title away from Call of Duty: Ghosts.

GTA V is also set to be offered on the PC, with a number of upgrades, on January 27 of 2015, and on that date the game has a good chance of once again taking the UK number one position.

In the meantime, gamers can look forward to getting more updates from the development team at Rockstar, presumably eliminating all the connection issues that some are currently reporting, and there’s also a chance that more single-player content will be announced as coming to all platforms.

Second place belongs to another new entry, Far Cry 4 from Ubisoft, another open world experience that asks gamers to use a variety of weapons and abilities to deal with enemies and environmental challenges as they explore the Himalayan nation of Kyrat.

The last position on the podium in the United Kingdom belongs to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, which spent the previous two weeks in the number one position, even as Sledgehammer Games says that it is looking for ways to improve the overall experience for all players that bought the first-person shooter.

The best of the rest

FIFA 15, the football simulation from EA Sports, continues to perform pretty well given that it was originally launched two months before, and gamers continue to play the game, especially the Ultimate Team mode which is getting access to new packs each week.

Dragon Age: Inquisition, the new role-playing game released by BioWare on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the PC and last-gen consoles, managed to sell well enough to land in fifth place during its own launch week.

Sixth place is occupied by Assassin’s Creed Unity, the open world title from Ubisoft, which might be feeling the impact of the major issues that the development team has not yet been able to solve.

In seventh, gamers can find WWE 2K15, the wrestling experience that allows gamers to re-create the biggest fights they have only seen on TV so far, while LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham from Warner Bros. is in eighth.

The PlayStation version of Minecraft is in ninth, and the UK top ten is closed down by Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
