Grand Theft Auto 5 has just received an unofficial tool that allows it to be played in virtual reality using the Oculus Rift DK2 headset, thanks to the VorpX program, and a video shows that it works quite well when using the first-person view mode.

Grand Theft Auto 5 has been around for quite some time now, having surfaced first on the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles in September of 2013, and then on the PS4 and Xbox One platforms, in November of last year. Meanwhile, PC users have had to deal with a myriad of delays, as developer Rockstar opted to push back the debut of that version of GTA 5 in order to continue optimizing and improving the experience.

GTA 5 finally launched onto the PC platform earlier this week, and immediately eager fans started tinkering with the game's files, in hopes of launching impressive mods and other tools for the title.

While the creator of the ENB Series has mentioned that file editing is impossible right now in GTA 5 for PC, it seems that external tools can still have a significant effect on the game.

Virtual Reality support is now available, unofficially, for GTA 5 on PC

More specifically, the VorpX program has just been updated with support for Grand Theft Auto 5 on the PC, allowing the game to run, at least in some regards, in virtual reality mode when using an Oculus Rift DK2 headset.

As you can see in the video below, the game runs pretty well in virtual reality when employing its special first-person mode that's exclusive to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of GTA 5.

As of yet, Rockstar hasn't mentioned any intention of adding an official virtual reality mode to its popular game.

Until then, if you have an Oculus Rift DK2 headset, you can buy and download VorpX version 0.8.1 from the official website right now and attempt to make the game work in virtual reality.
