George Clooney didn’t have a great 2014 professionally, but that didn’t matter last night at the Golden Globes 2015, when he was honored with the prestigious Cecile B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement.

You will find his acceptance speech embedded below.

Clooney’s star-studded “The Monuments Men” was one of the biggest and most critically panned releases of the previous year, but his work in film, both in front and behind the camera, is more than just a flop.

He made sure to point that out in his acceptance speech, by joking about “The Monuments Men.” He even mentioned the Sony Hack, which revealed how deeply sorry he was for the disappointing film, for letting Sony Pictures, which distributed, down with it.

However, the best part of his speech was the one dedicated to his new wife, Amal Clooney, nee Alamuddin.

“It's a humbling thing when you find someone to love. [It's] even better if you've been waiting your whole life. Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be you husband,” he said, as her eyes filled with tears.

George Clooney doesn’t like talking about his personal life all that much, even though he did turn his Italian wedding to Amal into a genuine spectacle, a la Kim Kardashian & Kanye West. Hearing him getting so personal in front of so many people (and even more watching at home, on television) isn’t something that happens every day, for what it’s worth.
