Anyway, according to Google, Android Wear 5.1.1 rollout will kick off today for all compatible devices. However, not all the features included in the update will be available for the smartwatches that can be upgraded to Android Wear 5.1.1.
For example, Asus ZenWatch, LG G Watch and LG G Watch R won't receive Wi-Fi support. On the other hand, LG Watch Urbane, Moto 360, Sony Smartwatch 3 and Samsung Gear Live will get Wi-Fi support through Android Wear 5.1.1 update.
In order to receive the latest update, you need to make sure that you have the latest version of Android Wear app installed on your smartphone.
It's also worth mentioning that the update is now rolled out gradually in the coming days and weeks, which means it won't be available to all smartwatches compatible at the same time.
Along with the Android Wear 5.1.1 launch announcement, Google also listed some of the new features and improvements included in the update.
Always-on screen, always-on apps is one of the new features included in the update, and it is meant to allow apps to stay visible as long as users need them. This means that they won't disappear when you drop your arm.

Furthermore, the update brings a new launcher and wrist gestures. For example, users will be able to access apps and contact by simply swiping left from the watch face. Android Wear will also respond to specific gestures.
Android Wear 5.1.1 brings the option to draw emoji in texts, instant messages, or emails. The watch will recognize the emoji drawn on the screen and send it via the messaging app.
Then there's the new heads-up notifications system, which will make text messages appear on-screen even when you are looking at something else on your watch.
The update also provides users with the option to change fonts and the possibility to lock their watch's screen when they are not wearing it.
