The update includes approximately 40 security fixes

Google was proud to announce today, May 18, the immediate availability for download of the Google Chrome 43 web browser for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows.

It appears that this is a bugfix-only release that only promotes the Google Chrome 43 version from the Beta channel to the Stable one and fixes approximately 37 bugs discovered since the last stable version.

The actual version number of Google Chrome 43 is 43.0.2357.65, the same one that was until today on the Beta version. The announcement highlights only the fixes that were contributed by third-party researchers.

"The Chrome team is happy to announce the promotion of Chrome 43 to the stable channel for Windows, Mac and Linux. Chrome 43.0.2357.65 contains a number of fixes and improvements," reads today's announcement.

Here's what was fixed in Google Chrome 43

Among the fixes that were patched in Google Chrome 43, we can mention a sandbox escape, cross-origin bypass in Document Object Model (DOM) and Editing, use-after-free in WebAudio, Speech, WebRTC, and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).

Additionally, a container-overflow in SVG was fixed, negative-size parameter in the Libvpx library was patched, an uninitialized value in PDFium was addressed, a URL bar spoofing issue was fixed, and an uninitialized value in the Blink engine was patched.

Last but not least, an insecure download issue of the built-in spellcheck dictionary was patched, several vulnerabilities were fixes in the V8 engine, and cross-site scripting problems in the bookmarks were addressed. In related news, the Chromium web browser, on which Google Chrome is based, has also been updated today to version 43.0.2357.65, and it's available for download right now from Softpedia. The Dev channel of Google Chrome has been updated as well today to version 44.0.2403.4, and it will be moved to the Beta channel in the coming days.
