A new Google patent hints towards a miracle bracelet

People know Google as the technology giant responsible for the world’s most popular search engine and the mobile operating system Android. The company also provides services that allow folks to search the internet, check their emails and connect with friends.

But apart from these, the technology giant is also involved in projects that have a far greater importance, like the fight against one of this century’s most deadliest diseases - cancer.

If you follow the news, you’re probably familiar with the information which surfaced last year that Google had plans to create a pill that would help differentiate cancer cells in the human body by “coloring” them in a different hue from the healthy ones.

We haven’t heard much related to the development of those pills, but a new unearthed patent shows us that Google hasn't abandoned the research into cancer.

Wearables of the future might cure cancer

As reported by the Telegraph, the documents reveal that the search giant might be developing a wearable that will aid in the fight against cancer. The device is constructed as a cuff-like wearable that’s to be worn around the wrist, pretty much like you would a smartwatch.

As it turns out, the wearable is built around the process of “nanoparticle phoresis” which is said to be able to transmit energy into a person’s body via radio frequencies, magnetic fields, acoustic pulses, infrared, and more.

Google’s earlier pill invention comes into the spotlight here once again, as the energy being transmitted through the wearable will supposedly be able to target certain differentiated cells.

Once the sick cells are detected, the magnetic energy will be used to draw them out of the bloodstream and eventually out of the body.

But the uses of such a bracelet could be extended to other diseases as well. Google itself gives the example of certain proteins which are involved in the development of Parkinson’s disease.

So patients prone to develop the disease could wear the smart band in order to slow the onset of the malady.

Naturally, as with every patent, we have to tell you that you shouldn’t be holding your breath for seeing the invention become commercially available too soon. But it’s encouraging to see that Google continues to invest into research endeavors that one day might make us forget about cancer altogether.
