Back in June, we brought you news that Google had posted the Android 4.4.4 KitKat factory images for its Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablets.

However, a few months ago, only the Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013 models) Wi-Fi got included in the roll-out, while LTE owners were left out in the cold waiting to receive the same treatment.

Nexus 7 (2013) LTE factory images are now up

Well, this finally happened now, as Google has finally posted the latest build of its operating system (dubbed KTU84P) for the LTE model of the Nexus 7 (2013).

Bear in mind that the update doesn’t use the over-the-air (OTA) update process you are familiar with. That means your tablet won’t receive any notifications alerting you that an update has made its way to your tablet.

So you’ll have to download the 4.4.4 factory images by yourself and install them on your device manually. These images will wipe your device clean, then update it to the latest OS version.

Factory images come particularly in handy to those device owners who have performed hacks or modified their tablets beyond recognition and would like to “reset” things by going back to the stock version of Android.

So if you too want to have a taste of Android 4.4.4 KitKat on your Nexus 7 (2013) LTE, go ahead and follow this link and download the factory images.

Google took its sweet time in updating the LTE Nexus 7 (2013)

One of the major advantages of being a Nexus users is that most of the times, your device will be part of the first batch to receive Android’s latest build. They are usually followed by Google Play Edition branded products.

But this wasn’t really the case with the Nexus 7 (2013) LTE which had to wait a few good months in order to receive the latest Android treatment.

The new Android 4.4.4 is quite a minor update, bringing about things like an improved dialer with new interface and more extensive pallet of colors.

However, it’s still nice to know you are working with a device that takes advantage of the latest in terms of OS. And you’ll finally be off the hook with updates until Android L comes next month.

The Google Nexus 7 (2013) tablet is one of the most popular 7-incher that made it to the market in recent years. The tablet arrives with a 7-inch display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution (323 ppi) and draws life from a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and either 16GB / 32GB of internal storage.
