Developers have released a new version in the Google Chrome 40.x development branch and they have made a number of improvements to the application.

Now that the stable version of Google Chrome has been promoted to 39.x, user are looking at the 40.x branch to see when it will be moved to the Beta channel. It seems that we'll have to wait a little more for that to happen, especially if we take a look at just how consistent the latest changelog really is.

From the looks of it, the new Google Chrome 40.0.2214.10 doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it's full of various fixes and smaller improvements. Users are already saying that it's a lot more stable than the previous iteration, which apparently caused some issues with many people. In any case, this would be a good idea to update, if you are using this particular channel.

If you happen to have an Ubuntu system you won't have to do anything special. For some time now, each time you install Google Chrome for the first time, you will also get the repositories for all the branches. This means that the application can be update along with the system.

Also, you can download Google Chrome 40.0.2214.10 for Linux right now from Softpedia.
