The stable branch of the Google Chrome Internet browser has been upgraded to version 38.0.2125.122 and comes with an important update for Adobe Flash and numerous other changes and improvements.

The Google Chrome developers are still keeping this branch alive and they have just released a new version. Nothing really interesting has been added, with the exception of the Adobe Flash update, although users might find that a few other small fixes have been implemented.

One of the most interesting improvements has to do with the way the browser handles zip-file loading from the "Load Unpacked Extension" function. Starting with this version, this particular feature is no longer available.

"This was only implemented half-way, and the file picker still limited choices to directories. So this code only got run (incorrectly) by selecting a folder that ends in .zip (which happens on ChromeOS for a mounted zip archive)," said the developers in the official changelog.

It's also worth noting that the update process for Google Chrome on Linux is different from the one on Windows and Mac OS X. In order to get the latest version, you will need to perform a system update. The new build will not download automatically on Linux. You can download the latest Google Chrome 38.0.2125.122 for Linux from Softpedia.
