It's expected to arrive in China by the end of the year

Chinese OEMs are well known for trying to copy other popular brands like Samsung and Apple with their own products. Gionee’s latest addition to its Android portfolio is no exception.

The so-called Gionee W900 is about to make its debut in China in the next couple of weeks if we are to take into consideration the fact that it has just been spotted at TENAA, Phonearena reports.

Gionee is a popular brand in both China and India due to its not-so-expensive Android smartphones that come with more than decent features. This is probably one of the reasons Gioneee devices sell so well in emerging markets.

The next device the Chinese company plans to launch is a replica to Samsung’s latest Android clamshell smartphones. The flip form factor is almost a thing of the past, as not many companies launch handsets featuring this design.

However, Samsung seems to be determined to keep the clamshell design alive and every once in a while it launches an Android smartphone with this form factor.

Even though Samsung’s clamshell smartphones are only available in a few countries and for quite large amounts of money, they do seem to sell every year, otherwise the South Korean company wouldn’t have continued to release them.

On that note, Gionee’s W900 clamshell smartphone is going to be launched in China in the coming weeks. The device features a flip form factor, which is enough to make it stand out for other Android smartphones.

The smartphone features a 5-megapixel camera in the front and 2GB of RAM

What really makes it unique is the fact that the W900 sports two 4-inch AMOLED displays that support full HD (1080p) resolution and 550ppi (pixel per inch).

Although there are no details on the phone’s price tag, we can safely assume that the W900 will be much cheaper than its Samsung counterpart.

On the inside, Gionee W900 is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

The smartphone also boasts an enhanced 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a great 5-megapixel photo snapper in the front for perfect selfies.

The W900 is packed with all the connectivity options a user would need including LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with A-GPS. It’s also worth mentioning that Gionee’s clamshell smartphone will be powered by a 2500 mAh battery.
